Winning Competition Entry with Feilden Fowles Architects. A proposal for Widcombe Junior School, Bath to deliver an iconic raised hall on the footprint and remaining walls of the original Victorian Junior School.

This strategy creates a civic building and threshold linking the school and community. Re-using the original foundations reduces costs and materials whilst referencing the origins of the school and forming a playful and celebratory building. The orientation allows excellent natural light, ventilation and access from the street allowing the building to make the school more socially, environmentally and commercially sustainable.

The site visibly embodies the food processes Growth, Use, and Reuse.  The building is educational and interactive itself; engaging, connecting and nourishing, a catalyst towards lifelong learning.

Project to be continued by Feilden Fowles.
