Tina the Tuna was created to highlight the plight of overfishing for the Greenpeace field at Glastonbury 2015Recycled and recyclable materials were used as far as possible in the construction of the field, and the fish was designed as a modular structure to be reused in different locations.

SmartPly arches form ribs and ridge beams, and the structure is erected rib by rib, pinned into the ground, and the heights adjusted using blocks in the feet to align the ridges. Waterproofed and battened from the outside, the structure works similarly to a roof. Reused vegetable oil cans were cleaned, cut and shaped to create scales which are used as tiles to form a watertight skin.

The structure is finished off with recycled tent poles forming gills, fins and the mouth opening through which people enter.

Inside, a fluorescent Coral Garden highlights the destruction of the Great Barrier Reef by the coal industry. An interactive sound and light installation reacts to people's movement through the fish.

Even the Dalai Lama liked it!
